Why Guardians belong on top of the Food chain.
Let me first begin by stating a true guardian would look at my title and completely disagree with me. I say this because food chain implies a type of power structure and as we learned in class guardians should have the top postion because they do no look at society in such a way. Instead of a hunger for power they have a hunger for knowledge. They do everything in their power to keep the balance of a city just as the soul, balanced. Continuing forward they shoud govern a city because they are wise through the knowledge they have gained through life. Sadly, this structure would only happen in a utopia and because of human's tendency to be prophet seeking such a person doesn't exist in today's society.

Anyway, to summarize what I had earlier, I agree that a true guardian would disagree with your title. The title of a guardian means it's their "ergon" to seek truth, wisdom, and the greater good. There are a lot of corrupt people in the world right now who hold guardian-esque positions in society and abuse their power. It's unfortunate, as you've mentioned, that guardians only exist in a perfect world because in an ideal republic the best guardian (most powerful person) would be the most wise and virtuous.
ReplyDeleteLets just say at today's society there are "guardians" but they are different they don't exemplify the definition of what a guardian really mean.That being said "Guardian" are suppose to be wise and virtuous, living for knowledge overall, and creating a "balanced environment." Many guardians to the degree of what I'm saying are "very corrupt" and basically look at society as a "wallet." Anything that makes money usually is best. And the "more money the more corrupt." Today's society is so greedy people wouldn't accept such wisdom of a "true guardian." So its true that type of perfect world couldn't exist. And yes guardians are top of the food chain such as they should be.
