Like a Girl

Women in today's society have been made to believe that they are inferior to men, like whatever they do is always inferior to the way a man would do it. Nobody is born thinking that they are inferior. Society has put this on them by promoting the idea that women are weak and vulnerable. Studies have shown that a woman's confidence drops around the time of puberty due to the fact that they are at a vulnerable stage in their life, a time when they are still trying to figure themselves and are being told that they are inferior to men. The company Always did a video titled "Always #LikeAGirl". It's about three minutes long and I highly encourage you to watch it.

Like a girl has become an insult in our society and needs to be stomped out. Popularized by the movie The Sandlot it has done nothing but continue to promote the negative stereotype that women are weak. Simply by saying it you reinforce the idea in our society. Always is trying to flip it and redefine the phrase "Like a Girl" into a positive affirmation to all women. What do you think?

  1. I've never heard anyone say women aren't just as capable as a man. Women are due to biology weaker than men. That's just a fact a where it comes from. It's not something to be offended by.

  2. It is true that there are some people in this world who believes that women are less likely to do things that men can do. In some cases, this true. But I do not believe it is true that women are inferior to men. We are suppose to be equal to them. Their partners, not competitions.

  3. The fact that women have a lesser bone density, less muscle mass, and increase fat retention isn't necessarily what is meant by the term "Women are weaker than men" half the time, in my opinion. I believe that the phrase came about when women were to be referred to as inferior and not capable of handling certain situations solely because of their gender. Sure, women may be more emotionally inclined; but if you're a woman of business, you should have no problem compartmentalizing your biased emotions from your working relationships.

  4. I believe femism is rising and the United States as a whole is moving towards a more liberal period. Women in the past have been thought to be weaker than men. One could argue that women, from a biological standpoint, are physically weaker than men. However, I've seen plenty of physically strong and athletic women that could put up a fight if not whoop certain guys asses. In the past we used to believe that white males were supperior to other races. Fast forward to the present we have a black man running the country. I don't believe that women are weaker than men and I don't think people are making it seem like that anymore either. Of course their will be people speaking ignorantly on the subject, but we have people like that for every topic.

  5. I do think women have been made to feel this way, that is true. I will say that men have more advantages than women, especially when it comes to jobs. either way, I think anything a man can do, a woman can do just as well. With the determination, it's very possible.
